The Miami Classical Guitar Society and Centro Cultural Espanol presents:

MIAMI'S 4th INTERNATIONAL GUITAR ASSEMBLAGE, June 20 - June 21, 2008

This wonderful event features Night Concerts and Master Classes. Inaugural concert by Spanish guitar virtuoso Ricardo Gallen on Friday, and a shared duet by Cuban-American guitarist Carlos Molina and Uruguayan violinist Federico Britos on Saturday.

Concert: Saturday, June 21st- 8pm - Carlos Molina (Cuba/US) and Federico Britos (Uruguay)
Where: Saint Philip’s Episcopal Church, 1142 Andalusia Avenue, Coral Gables, FL 33134

General admission to the concerts is $20.00 at the door. (Discounts for Miami Classical Guitar Society and CCE members, students, and senior citizens are available at the door, ID required).

Master Classes - Saturday, June 21st at 10:00am with Ricardo Gallén at the Centro Cultural Español. Classes are opened to the public and you may participate as an auditor or as an active performer. To participate as performer, please reserve your turn by registering in advance. Performers: $50 / Auditors: $10.

Ricardo Gallén, (Spain)

Virtuoso guitarist, winner of over 20 international competitions, including Markneukirchen, Andrés Segovia, Francisco Tárrega, Concurso Int’l de La Habana. Concerts at the Concertgebouw of Amsterdam, Shostakovich Hall of Saint Petersbourg, the Tchaikowsky Hall of Moscow, and others. Recorded CD’s for Naxos, among the 50 top selling records. Teaches at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and the University of Extremadura in Spain.

Carlos Molina, (Cuba/ USA)

Concert guitarist and professor. Awarded Premio Chitarristico Cita di Fiuggi 2007 with Alirio Díaz, Leo Brouwer and Carlo Carfagna. Performances at the Metropolitan Opera House, Kennedy Center, Filarmonia of Saint Petersbourg, Dvorak Hall of Prague, Ateneo of Madrid, and others. First Prize of the 1970 National Guitar Competition of Cuba. Dedicatee of Leo Brouwer’s “Canticum,” and Nikita Koshkin’s “Return of the Winds”. Founder of The Miami Classical Guitar Society and Miami’s International Guitar Competition.

Federico Britos, (Uruguay)
Violin virtuoso, concert master for Symphony Orchestras of Uruguay, Cuba, Peru and Venezuela, chamber musician, composer, jazzist. Dedicatee of Leo Brouwer’s only concerto for violin and orchestra in 1976. Founder of the Grupo Experimental Nuestro Tiempo in Cuba, focused on avant-garde music, performing music of Luigi Nono, Hans Werner Henze, John Cage, Juan Blanco, Carlos Fariñas. Concertino of the Miami Symphony Orchestra and winner of several Grammy Awards. Has performed with Latin America’s Aztor Piazzola and jazz legends Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie, Nat King Cole, Dexter Gordon, Charlie Byrd and others.
